modsim.org Geo Product Review

Intro

It was almost 2 years ago. Multigen-Paradigm(TM)'s “Creator(TM)” seemed to be the only modeling tool remaining in the category, which could be called visual simulation modeling software. A category which I was expecting to vanish as high end modeling tools such as Maya™ and Max™ were being adopted by more and more 3d modelers working on visual simulation projects.

What we didn't know at that time was that Andy Bushnell, who did develop Designer's Workbench™, a software which used to be a competitor to Multigen(TM) and VAPS™, was working hard on a new breed of vissim modeling software. It wasn't surprising for me at all, that a new modeling software would catch Creator(TM) in terms of functionality, as the development of Creator(TM) had obviously slowed down which is again not surprising, taking CA's general business model into account. So I prefered to wait a bit more before reviewing Geo, acting very much like a late-adopter.

This article takes a look into Geo's certain features. I have prefered to limit the article to must-have features such as OpenFlight(TM) exchange and interesting improvements that Geo adds such as scripting and plugins.

On the other hand, this is our first real product review at modsim.org. It is far from perfect. Please excuse me for the errors.

Let's go and get an overview first.
