Liebherr Selects Vortex for Offshore and Port Crane Simulator CMLabs is proud that one of theworld’s most respected crane manufacturers has selected Vortex for a new simulator project for both offshore and harbour cranes. Liebherr is a well known trendsetter in new technologies and innovations. The simulator will be used to showcase Liebherr’s advanced Litronic controls systems and crane operations while immersed in an actual Liebherr crane cabin. The simulator will be showcased at Liebherr tradeshow events in 2011. The simulator is built on the Vortex engine and integrated with Liebherr Litronic controls. It provides a very high level of realism and a true operations in-cab experience.
CMLabs Selected for Spinal Surgery Medical Simulation Project with Barrow Neurological Institute CMLabs was selected by the Barrow Neurological Institute at St.Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Arizona for the research and development of a computerized planning tool for spine surgery. The objective is to develop a desktop application that interfaces to a haptic device to perform virtual surgery on the spine. The main components of the application include patient specific set-up with 3D models, use of a haptic device to manipulate vertebrae and surgical tools, place hardware, and final export results for analysis. It involves the real-time simulation of the spine structure and ligaments as well as shaping and drilling of bone surfaces.
